The investor who anchors a round: often sets terms, does heavy diligence, and signals confidence so others follow. Not every small check has a formal lead.

A bit more nuance
  • In angel rounds, a lead might be the largest check or the most trusted name.
  • A strong lead can shorten fundraising time; a weak or absent lead can drag it out.
